Auburn has so much to offer, whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or get a taste of local charm.

Start Your Morning with Coffee and Breakfast
Auburn has great options to get your day started with a hearty breakfast and fresh cup of coffee. Try out Bitty and Beau’s, Well Red, The Bean or Ross House. Grab a bite to eat at Big Blue Bagel, Another Broken Egg, Staks Pancakes or Byron's Smokehouse.
Spend Time in Downtown Auburn and on Auburn University’s Campus
Downtown Auburn is home to a variety of local shops and dining. Get a famous glass of lemonade from Toomer's Drugs, shop at local boutiques including Charming Oaks, Therapy Boutique, Wrapsody and Behind the Glass. Grab a casual bite at Taco Mama, The Irritable Bao, Mellow Mushroom or Hamiltons on Magnolia! Head toward campus and check out J&M bookstore, the Auburn Tigers Team Shop, and then get your picture made at the famous Auburn University sign in front of Samford Hall.
Dine Like a Local
After an exciting day of campus tours and information on your student’s dining plans and housing arrangements, treat yourself to a meal at one of Auburn’s local restaurants. The Hound is a rustic, family-friendly spot in downtown Auburn known for its Southern style meals. Acre in downtown Auburn is famous for its upscale southern cuisine with a modern twist and ingredients sourced from local farms. Botanic always has live music and entertainment, and an amazing ambiance that you won’t want to miss. The list of great food options goes on and on with places like Venditoris, Amsterdam Cafe, Lucy’s, and Bow & Arrow. End the night at a local rooftop bar and watch the beautiful Auburn sunsets at The Graduate Hotel, The Laurel Hotel and Spa, or The Collegiate Hotel.

What to Pack
Auburn’s warm climate ensures that it will be warm and it will be humid while you’re visiting this summer. Make sure to pack walking shoes and clothes that you’ll be comfortable commuting in. It wouldn’t hurt to throw a portable fan, sunscreen, a rain jacket and ponytail holder in your bag, just in case. You will learn a lot of information that you’ll want to take back home with you, so a pen and notebook are a great addition to the packing list.
Welcome to the Auburn Family
Camp War Eagle is just the beginning of an incredible journey for your student—and for you, too. As they prepare to take on their next chapter, we hope you take some time to enjoy all that Auburn has to offer. It’s more than a college town—it’s a second home!
